Title I Parent Information

Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ (VBCPS) Title I program was established to improve student achievement and help all students meet the objectives of the VBCPS language arts and mathematics curricula and the Virginia Standards of Learning. Schools are eligible for Title I funds based on the percent of low-income students. These funds are used to hire additional staff, purchase instructional materials, fund extended day learning opportunities and provide professional development to support students identified as low achieving in reading and math so that they can show proficiency on state assessments.

Each VBCPS Title I school develops a parent engagement policy and compact that specifically outlines how we'll work together to help our students learn, grow and engage with the educational process. For further information on VBCPS and Title I, visit vbschools.com.
